SPOTLIGHT: Seven

Checkin my myspace, i got a request from a west coast indie rapper by the name of Seven. I was diggin the beats like crazy, straight breakbeats.. but listening even more, this dudes flow and delivery is incredible. So i decided to get to know the dude, heres his take on musical influences, hip hop today...ah, just read the damn thing! And check out his myspace, SEVEN @ MYSPACE

JS: WHATS GOOD BRO!
Jumping right into it, what got you into hiphop?

Seven: well the underground ill shyt i guess
ive been into hip hop since 4th grade

JSC: With that being said, what would some of your musical influences be?

Seven: from just hip hop?
or all genres?
the strokes, afu ra, al green, arctic monkeys, explosions in the sky, asheru & blu black, azymuth, the beatles, black milk, big l, exile, nujabes, the church, cold play, common..thats just to name a few.

JSC: impressive, see your not just limited to one type of music thts whatsup my dude!

Seven: and not to forget jay dee

JSC: DILLA GOD DAMNNN THATS MY DUDE, R.i.P.

Seven: but i didnt get into him later, i cant really say i'm a true fan n shyt.
i discovered him way after all the music i named right now

JSC: ive been on his shit since like commons electric circus shit, after that.. everything he came out with caught my ear

Seven: yea i feel you, i wasnt really feeling that Electric circus.
i was more into like water for chocolate. "the questions" is my jam

JSC: HELL yeah, by far his best album..well at least to me. his new shit, idkkk man...u can tell he stepped out the underground with it.

Seven: foreel, you can definetly hear the difference. but that's hip hop for you.
thats HUMANs for you haha. we're never satisfied with what we got. we always want something new and intriguiging

JSC: that is truee man, instead of really enjoying it to the fullest we're like, OK THIS IS GOOD...NEXTTTTT

Seven: foreel, thats why dudes are puttin out new shit. money + they want a new sound. fuck it.what would the world be without money? ever thought about that?

JSC: probably alot happier, honestly. if i could put my music out, and people like it, id rather litterally give it out then make them buy shit they dnt want.
cuz i mean... the mixtape revolution is a good look..it lets people get to know the artist before they buy the actual album

Seven: i actually never really thought about puttin out a mixtape,i've just been working on this album forever
